HL/SL
In our International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IB DP), Higher (HL) and Middle (SL) levels are offered in the various subjects. Below are the key technical differences for each mode:
- Higher Level (HL): Involves a total commitment of approximately 240 hours over the two years of the program. This is distributed between classes, independent study and evaluations.
- Medium Level (SL): Requires about 150 hours in total, distributed in a similar way to HL, but with a slightly reduced workload.
- Higher Level (HL): Explores the content in a deeper and more extensive way, covering additional topics and more advanced concepts.
- Medium Level (SL): Provides complete coverage of the content, although with less breadth and depth compared to HL.
- Higher Level (HL): Assessments include longer exams, more complex internal assessments and, in some cases, additional assessments for depth of content.
- Intermediate Level (SL): Assessments are rigorous but less extensive, with a focus on the fundamental concepts of the subject.
- Higher Level (HL): May involve more detailed and extensive internal projects and evaluations.
- Medium Level (SL): Internal assessments are equally important but tend to focus more on core concepts.
- Higher Level (HL): Offers a more solid and in-depth preparation for university studies in the subject.
- Middle Level (SL): Prepares students for higher education, although with a slightly less intensive focus.
The choice between HL and SL allows students to personalize their academic experience, challenge themselves and prepare for future success. Both levels offer a high quality education, adapting to different levels of ability and academic aspirations.
